Fairhope is a charming city on the eastern shore of Mobile Bay, founded in 1894 as a single-tax colony by 28 followers of Henry George. This Alabama town started as an experimental community of equality and cooperation. It attracted notable intellectuals like Sherwood Anderson, Clarence Darrow, and Upton Sinclair and became an artists’ haven. Today, Fairhope still has its cultural heritage and is an affluent suburb with 24,974 residents.

You can visit the famous Fairhope Municipal Pier, a 1,448-foot pier rebuilt after Hurricane Katrina destroyed the original in 2005. This waterfront spot is for fishing, strolling, and bay views, plus marina and restaurant facilities.
